Ever-Green has transformed decades of experience in engineering, system development, and utility ownership and management to become one of the country’s foremost experts on the advancement of community energy systems. Drawing from the flagship system, District Energy St. Paul, Ever-Green’s industry-leading experience helps communities, colleges and universities, and government organizations advance the study, development, and operation of integrated energy systems.
Ever-Green is a unique organization with roots in private-public partnership. Ever-Green was developed in response to the incredible interest in our Saint Paul operations, our industry-leading reputation as a utility operator, and our ability to advance technologies, businesses, energy projects, and systems. Our Saint Paul team was consistently approached by developers, local government, health care managers, and colleges wanting to know how we were able to successfully advance our energy system. There was significant interest in our public-private model and how we were able to create a community energy system that had such a strong financial track record. With District Energy’s non-profit work centered in Saint Paul, Minnesota, we created Ever-Green Energy to launch a broader business that could provide project and operations services. Since our founding in 1998, we have evolved our work and our expertise beyond Saint Paul to Duluth, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and projects throughout North America.
Ever-Green is the co-owner of affiliates Environmental Wood Supply and St. Paul Cogeneration, in partnership with DTE Energy Resources through its subsidiary DTE St. Paul, LLC. Both companies were initiated in the 1990s to launch the wood processing and combined heat and power operations that serve the Saint Paul district heating system. These operations improved the efficiency and renewable capabilities of District Energy St. Paul.
