Since 1997, Ever-Green Energy has managed the central heating and cooling system for Energy Park, a Saint Paul development complex owned by the Port Authority of Saint Paul, that includes residential housing, industrial buildings and retail establishments.
How it Works
Energy Park is a 218-acre business center developed by the Port Authority of Saint Paul in the 1980s. It is one of the nation's first "Urban Villages" that includes manufacturers, commercial/office buildings and housing units. The business center has created 5,000 jobs and is served by a district energy system that provides heating and cooling to the complex.
Ever-Green Energy has provided management of the business center's district heating and cooling systems since 1997. Businesses served include Holiday Inn Express, US Bank, Litho Specialties, Merrill Corporation and Quality Tool, to name a few.
While the systems in Energy Park and downtown Saint Paul are not identical, they function in a similar way: water is heated or cooled at a central location and then circulated via underground piping to individual buildings where heat exchangers provide heating or cooling for the building's internal distribution system.
This technique provides numerous benefits to customers and the surrounding communities, including energy savings, increased operating efficiency and reduced pollution.
