March marks Ever-Green Energy’s celebration of an important tradition – Legacy Day. This event serves to acknowledge the dedication of our employees and to specifically honor those employees who are hitting significant service milestones in their careers at Ever-Green. In 2023, we have four employees celebrating 40 years at Ever-Green and seven more being recognized for 20 or more years of service.

Across our organization we recognize team member service milestones with Duluth Energy Systems and Milwaukee Regional Medical Center celebrating Legacy Day in early March.

In his welcome speech, Ken Smith said, “One of the reasons we started Legacy Day is to reinforce our core values, which are foundational to our culture and how we do business. As a company, we strive to live by those values. Our core values speak to how we treat people – our customers, business partners, and each other.”

Ken’s comments on our core values were reaffirmed by the honorees themselves. Ron Anderson, who is celebrating 40 years at Ever-Green, said “This has been a fulfilling place to work for forty years because of the people. Their experience and knowledge inspire me year after year. I’m also excited about the younger generation of people that are showing great interest in the future of plant operations and engineering, and finding new ways on to keep improving at what we do.”

Brenda Ludescher, at Ever-Green for 20 years, said, “I’m proud of the knowledge I’ve gained while working at Ever-Green, and of the lifelong friendships that I have made during my time here.”

Muneer Rehan celebrates five years at Ever-Green this year.

Muneer Rehan, five years with Ever-Green, commented that “Ever-Green Energy as a company is using district energy to offer sustainable and decarbonization strategies to a wide variety of customers. Being a part of a company that designs and operates in a spectrum of different climates and environments is exciting.” This year’s Legacy Day offered a unique opportunity to reflect on our decarbonization achievements, as the event fell on the week of the 40th anniversary of District Energy St. Paul’s groundbreaking. Since then, Ever-Green has helped systems across the country with similar projects, paving the way for sustainable energy systems across the nation.

Paul Robeck celebrates 30 years at Ever-Green this year.

While Legacy Day provides an opportunity for our company to reflect on our history, it is also an opportunity to look forward and think about the future of Ever-Green Energy. When asked what he was most excited about for the future of the company, Steve Rambeck, at Ever-Green for five years, said, “I believe we are well positioned for smart and strategic growth. We have a very unique offering amongst our peers and in our industry that set us up well for the current energy transition. We have a strong team that remains agile and willing to explore solutions that promote the carbon reduction needs of the future.”

The team’s steadfast dedication to our core values and the company’s mission has made Ever-Green what it is today, and it is this dedication that promises a bright future for our partners, clients, and systems.
