Report includes District Energy St. Paul’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Ever-Green Energy today released its first-ever corporate social responsibility report, including the announcement of its flagship operation District Energy St. Paul’s commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

“As we set ambitious goals, we are emboldened by those who support us in the journey,” said Ken Smith, president and CEO of Ever-Green Energy and District Energy St. Paul. “Our first corporate social responsibility report is an invitation to our partners to join us in this work and share our commitment to sustainability and community. Together, we can help others shape their own vision for system advancement, address climate change, and create a more just and equitable energy industry.”

District Energy St. Paul inspired the creation of the Ever-Green Energy enterprise, which aims to replicate Saint Paul’s successes around clean energy and utility systems in other communities across the country. Ever-Green Energy has helped reimagine and improve the energy and utility systems for hospitals, college campuses and communities across the country and now operates utility systems in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio and California. The organization is also helping twelve U.S. partners decrease or eliminate carbon in their energy systems.

“Our team is proud of the services we provide communities, and we know that transparency is key to continuous improvement,” said Nina Axelson, vice president of sustainability and outreach at Ever-Green Energy. “This report acts as a compass to guide our work and bring others into our efforts.”

The report outlines key metrics the organization is using to measure its sustainability and clean energy practices and commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as examples of Ever-Green Energy’s work across systems. It also highlights the impact of the organization’s annual Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality Program, where colleges and universities are selected for free planning services to achieve their carbon reduction goals. During the first year of the Roadmap Program, Ever-Green helped campus leaders at the University of Minnesota Morris identify a plan to reduce their CO2 emissions by an anticipated 10,000 tons annually.
