In honor of his dedication and years of service, Mark Rancone has been named Director Emeritus on the Ever-Green Energy Board of Directors. Mark’s tenure began with board service for Ever-Green’s nonprofit flagship operation, District Energy St. Paul. He served on the District Cooling board from 1993 to 2004, at which point he joined the District Energy St. Paul board, serving as a board chair. He has served on Ever-Green’s board since 2014.

Throughout his tenure, he worked alongside each of Ever-Green and District Energy’s CEOs: Hans Nyman, Anders Rydaker, Ken Smith, and Luke Gaalswyk.

As a board member, Mark brought his expertise honed from a forty-year career building, owning, and managing commercial real estate in downtown Saint Paul, including the Landmark Tower and the Degree of Honor Building.

Passionate about raising awareness of Ever-Green’s work with the broader community, Mark used his background as an earth science teacher to develop a game that employees could take to schools to present on district energy and its benefits.

“For decades, Mark brought wise counsel to our organizations, carrying forward his family business’s proud tradition of volunteer leadership,” reflects Bonnie Holub, board chair. “He kept us focused on operational excellence for the City of Saint Paul while challenging us to pursue prudent new growth, all without compromising our high standards.”

Mark’s contributions to Saint Paul also include service on the board of Greater St. Paul BOMA for six years, Rice Park Committee membership, and service on the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce’s Light Rail, Business Development, and Shepard Road Advisory committees.

A lifelong Saint Paul resident, he now shares time in a golf community in Georgia. Mark and his wife Jeanne enjoy golfing excursions to Europe and traveling with their family members.

Mark has shared that he treasures the interaction with so many impressive fellow board members and staff over his many years of board service. He looks forward to watching the continuing and evolving growth of Ever-Green as the company works toward its mission.
